He won the race 3 times, in 3 consecutive years (1909, 1910, 1911).
He was the part of the early break of a 13-man group. They escaped when it was still 222 km left. Only Demol and the second-placed Thomas Wegmuller could ride home
It was his second Ronde-victory after 1989.
