Mini Cycling Who’s Who: Phil Anderson

Phil Anderson was born on 20th March in 1958 in London (UK). He grew up in Melbourne (Australia).

He turned professional in 1980 after moving to France. Later he lived in Belgium.

Anderson was the first non-European rider to wear the yellow jersey at the Tour de France in 1981. He finished 5th twice (1982 and 1985) and had other top10 GC-results.

His best year was 1985, when he triumphed at several stage races, like Tour de Suisse and Critérium du Dauhpiné Libere. He was 2nd at the Ronde van Vlaanderen and Gent-Wevelgem and 5th at Amstel Gold Race.
