The 17th edition of Paris-Nice in 1959 was exceptional. The 1955 km long race (divided into 11 stages) ended in Rome (Italy). There were separated classifications from Paris to Nice (first 6 stages) and from Nice to Rome (the other 5 ones), plus a general classification of the whole race.
The race was won by Jean Graczyk.
Due to the heavy criticism, the formula was never repeated.
