(238 km)Preview: The second longest stage of the 102nd Giro d’Italia. (The longest will be Stage 8 at Saturday.) An excellent chance for the breakaway specialists, like Thomas De Gendt (Lotto-Soudal) or Fausto Masnada (Androni Giocatolli – Sidermec).  Due to the Category2 climb at  17 km (to  go), the teams of the sprinters won’t chase the escape, and the helpers of the GC-guys neither.The climb is a good oppurtinity for Giulio Ciccone (Trek- Segafredo) to earn more KOM-points. His teammate Gianluca Brambilla made his name some years ago with a breakaway at a similar stage. Maybe an another  succescful action of him today?Diego Ulissi (UAE Team Emirates) was keen to win the stage at Tuesday,  Richard Carapaz (Movistar) and Caleb Ewan (Lotto-Soudal) were stronger and faster at the end, but this stage is also good for him.

Androni Giocatolli has another options for a breakaway: Marco Frapporti and Matteo Montaguti.

And at last but not at least I would name Pello Bilbao (Astana) as a favourite for this stage,  his team is superstrong this year, and this stage fits to him.

238 km with a category 2 climb (Coppa Casarinelle, 15km long, average 4,4% , the hardest part 9%) at 17 km to go. It’s too much for the sprinters, but not enough difficult for the GC-guys, so most likely a breakaway will succeed today. THOMAS DE GENDT (Lotto-Soudal) “the breakaway king” is my first choice. If GIULIO CICCONE (Trek-Segafred) wants to keep his blue jersey for more days he should try it today too. DIEGO ULISSI (UAE Team Emirates) missed his chance at Tuesday, here is an another one for him. FAUSTO MASNADA (Androni Giocattoli-Sidermerc) had already some good breakaway moments at this Giro.
