Preview: Vuelta a Espana 2019 – Stage 2 (Bernidorm- Calpe)

Stage 2
25.08.2019
Benidorm – Calpe
(199,6 km / 156,0 km + 43,6 km)

The 2nd categroy climb 24,8 km before the finish makes the race exciting. It’s too high for most of the sprinters, although the remaining distance might be enough for building up the sprint trains.

The day will end most likely with a breakaway (maybe a  solo) victory after an attack on the last climb.

The course would be ideal for the the Astana rider Luis Leon Sanchez or Omar Fraile, but there is a big question  mark, what kind of tactic will the team of the current GC-leader Miguel Angel Lopez is going to choose.

Another riders to watch: Philippe Gilbert (Deceuninck-Quick Step) Dylan Teuns (Bahrain-Merida) Jesus Herrada (Cofidis), Gianluca Brambilla (Trek-Segafredo)
