It was the 15th stage of the race. Ivan Basso finished first ahead of Cadel Evans and Michele Scarponi. Basso jumped up from the 11th to the 3rd place behind David Arroyo and Richie Porte.
He passed the 41 victories record of Alfredo Binda.
