The paradox of a short but not too high mountain stage at the end of a Grand Tour: it’s easy to control for the teams of the GC-riders, but is it worth? Especially,when the next stage is a really hard one.
Giulio Ciccone won his second Giro d’Italia stage after his victory in 2016, Richard Carapaz remains in pink and VIncenzo Nibali jumped up to the second place in the General Classification.
The organizers altered the route of this stage due to danger of avalanches. It means, that the legendary Gavia is out of the program, meanwhile two smaller climbs are in.
